THE LESSONS
MEET YOUR SPEECH & LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST (SLP)
Linda Mattan
As a speech-language pathologist, I have been working with babies and toddlers for more than 20 years. I have an Honours BSc. in Communication Disorders and a Masters of Clinical Science in Speech- Speech-language pathology from the University of Western Ontario.
Some fabulous places I have worked at include The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, the Toronto Preschool Speech and Language Program and SickKids.
My last stop was the Neonatal Developmental Follow-Up Team at Mount Sinai Hospital.
I know, early communication develops in back-and-forth interactions.
This fuelled my desire to start Happy Baby Talk, a place for moms to gather and learn all of the fun ways to engage with their babies and toddlers to best promote early communication, social skills and the development of play skills.
Let’s do this together XO
Happy Baby Talk - The Course is for parents and caregivers of babies and toddlers who are between 4 months and 14 months (so not talking yet)
Parents and caregivers who want to get ahead of the game and learn about how communication develops and what they can do at home to promote early language
It is for education and information and not a substitute for language therapy
THE COURSE
You’re probably wondering...
-
The course is designed to give parents tips and strategies to promote language development early. If your baby is between 3-4 months of age, you are good to go.
-
Always. My hope is that you will look at the lessons over and over and use the tips and ideas with your other babies.
-
Happy Baby Talk - The Course is intended for education and information only. If you have concerns about the language development of your baby or toddler, please contact me at hellohappybabytalk.com and I will happily connect with you for a free 10-minute consultation to help with the next steps. And of course, speak to your pediatrician about your concerns.
-
Yes. The course has been designed to help a parent understand the ways to “engage” with their baby to get interactions going and keep them going. It is helpful to learn that as the foundation for how language develops. We recommend starting from the beginning for this reason but because you are learning at home, you have the flexibility to “move around “and focus where your baby is at.
